One Wisconsin Now Statements on Latest Walker Corporate Welfare Plan

Less Accountability for Big Business Will Not Create Jobs

Madison - One Wisconsin Now released the following statements regarding Gov.-elect Scott Walker's plan to put corporate special interests in charge of he taxpayer-financed Wisconsin Department of Commerce.

"Scott Walker is determined to rerun every play out of George W. Bush's job-killing economic playbook and hand over our state's treasury and regulatory authority to big business. The economy grows best when we have more family-supporting jobs with good wages and benefits, not when politicians use their power to pay off corporate special interest campaign contributions. We need a balance in our public policy where workers and business have shared power and this plan will put far too much power in the hands of big business. Lastly, if this plan worked so well for Indiana, why is Indiana's unemployment rate 25 percent higher than Wisconsin's?"
