One Wisconsin Now Makes Open Records Request to Get Answers in Rep. Vos Ethics Investigation
Madison -- One Wisconsin Now announced the filing of an open records request of top GOP legislator Rep. Robin Vos and his staff in order to get answers to questions about his involvement in an apparently illegal scheme to provide free legal work on his behalf.
"Rep Vos is trying whitewash potentially serious violations of ethics laws by announcing he is withdrawing as an intervener in voter identification litigation," according to One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross.
Ross continued, "But the fact of the matter is laws may already have been broken. Along with his evolving explanations of the sequences of events, there are serious, unanswered questions."
The One Wisconsin Now request seeks copies of communications from Rep. Vos and his staff, other elected officials, the state Department of Justice and the law firm of Michael Best & Frederich or its attorneys regarding a petition filed on Rep. Vos' behalf to intervene in an appeal of a judge's decision that the state voter identification requirement is unconstitutional.
"It is clear significant amounts of legal work was done on Rep. Vos' behalf to further his efforts to deny the right to vote to thousands of otherwise qualified Wisconsin electors. The question Rep. Vos continues to refuse to answer is, who's paying the bills?" concluded Ross.
