Mary Czaja: No Help on Health Insurance for Thousands of Uninsured Wisconsinites, No State Income Taxes Paid by Her Four Times in Recent Years

Madison -- State Assembly candidate Mary Czaja, who touts her involvement with an association that lobbied against bipartisan legislation that could have made comprehensive health insurance available to an estimated 156,000 uninsured individuals and 35,000 farmers, paid no state income taxes in 2010, 2008, 2007 or 2004 according to state Department of Revenue records.

One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross commented, "Mary Czaja hasn't just spent her time working against giving uninsured farmers and small business owners options for health insurance, she's been avoiding paying her fair share of state income taxes too."

Last week One Wisconsin Now reported that, according to state lobbying reports, the Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin with which Czaja is associated, formally opposed and worked to kill bipartisan bills that could have helped tens of thousands of farmers, small business owners and self-employed get comprehensive health insurance coverage allowing them to buy into the plan for state employees.

Based on records obtained from the state Department of Revenue covering the last ten years, Czaja's reported state income tax paid in 2010, 2008, 2007 and 2004 was $0.0.

Ross concluded, "From health insurance options for uninsured farmers and small business owner to paying her fair share of state income taxes, Mary Czaja's answer is no."
