Tom Reynolds and the zealots that surround him must be very fearful of their Democratic opponent James Sullivan. First they falsely accused him of double voting in 1996, an assertion that was debunked back in 2000. Then Tom ran from a debate with Sullivan last week. Now even though one of their false accusations has totally been discredited, Reynolds and Company have come up with a new one. They now claim that Sullivan double voted in 1998. Apparently if you cannot beat an opponent on the issues, you are forced to resort to dirty tricks and repeated deception.
Wauwatosa City Clerk Carla Ledesma has pointed out that the documents prove that Sullivan did not double vote in 1998. Look, here are some of those documents. For telling the truth Tom and Company have decided to file frivolous charges against Ledesma (with the wrong agency by the way). They claim that she illegally altered the voting records, a claim that both she and the city attorney say are totally false. While trying to fulfill a request for these records, apparently she noticed a mistake and corrected the mistake. Additionally, the city appears to have other documents in their vault that also show that Sullivan did not double vote in 1998.
When you can't trust your own candidate to participate in a debate without saying something crazy, apparently you are left with no other options than to repeat libelous accusations and file frivolous complaints. Apparently this is the new low that Tom Reynolds and his wacky troop of misfits have sunk to. How embarrassing for the Republican Party and even more importantly for the moderate voters of the district that he is supposed to represent.
