JB Van Hollen, the Republican Attorney General who also coincidentally serves as the co-chair of John McCain's presidential campaign, was on Wisconsin Public Radio today talking about his partisan lawsuit to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters in predominately Wisconsin's cities.

Over and over again Van Hollen referred those opposing his partisan lawsuit, such as the non-partisan League of Women Voters, the Governmental Accountability Board and its six retired judges, as well as disability and voter rights groups as his "opponents."

Opponents?

First of all, whenever Van Hollen is dealing with a case at DOJ, his spokespeople say they can't comment. But suddenly, the state's top cop is more than avaiable to defend his frivolous suit.

Next, let's not forget: We are meeting the requirements of the Help America Vote Act.

Van Hollen's suit would dump anyone off of the voter rolls who doesn't exactly match. For instance, if one record has your middle name, but the DOT or SSN has just your middle initial. Van Hollen wants you dumped. This is going to cause a nightmare on election day, particiuarly in our cities. Long time. Working people. Not enough time to vote. Less voters Van Hollen and his Republican partisans don't want casting their ballot.

HAVA does not require what Van Hollen is calling for -- that non-matches get removed from the rolls.

Finally, Van Hollen spent his time on the broadcast pointlessly making untrue allegations of the widespread voter fraud which have been debunked over and over.

It's amazing that Van Hollen is getting away with using our taxdollars to sue us to restrict our right to vote so that he can get John McCain Wisconsin's electoral votes.

Those judges aren't retired

Michael Brennan, Federalist Society Member and rising right wing star, is Judge in Branch 15 of Milwaukee County. I don't know about the others, one way or the other, but he is not retired. He is a right winger who apparently disagrees with Van Hollen.

Pathetic

This is outrageous. The desparation of the GOP is reaching new lows. The fact that Van Hollen is using taxpayer money makes it even more outrageous. This is a direct attempt to stop the blue collar sector from voting.
