Kudos to the organizers, strategists and legislators who are making the healthcare referendum campaign happen! Both the bill requiring the state legislature to take action and the local referendum strategy are brilliant.
It is now clear that the continued pursuit of easy half-measures to address the healthcare crisis will not work. The Republicans long ago developed a strategy to coopt Clintonesque public policy. The competing policies of both parties have been equally uncredible to people suffering the consequences of our hemorraging healthcare system.
We need bold and sweeping reform that credibly addresses the large scale problem and cannot be coopted by the Right. People are ready for this if we put the hard work into organizing!
