The U.S. House of Representatives voted to expand federal funding the embryonic stem cell research. The measure passed 253 to 174, which is short of a veto proof majority. Reports say that Bush plans to veto it once again.

The author of a new study on amniotic stem cells is urging Congress not to consider his work a substitute for the search for disease-fighting material from embryonic stem cells. The right wing has tried to use his study to claim that there is not a need to move forward on embryonic stem cell research.
